Discussion 7 - How can and should schools use social media?

  How can and should schools use social media? ·          What social networking and/or social media sites do you use in your role as a school leader?  Do you feel that this is beneficial?  In what ways? What positive and negative feedback have you received from students, families, and the community? The only social media that I use as a teacher is Twitter.   To be honest the only reason I created an account was because it was an assignment for a summer course.   Now that I have this account, I have been using it as a Professional Learning Network or PLN.   I do feel this has been beneficial because I have learned about a variety of workshops held by Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) happening during summer in which I was able to attend.   Now as far as using Twitter with students and their families that I have not done and I don’t think I ...

Hello!   ¡Hola! My name is  Alicia Gomez I live in Chicago and have lived here practically all of my life.  I speak, read, and write English & Spanish fluently. I am a Bilingual Prekindergarten teacher in one of the Chicago Public Schools located on the southwest side of the city.  I have been teaching prekindergarten for about 15 years now and I love it.  I have always been interested in technology and I love implementing all kinds of technology in my classroom.  I teach my preschoolers how to code through many different apps and also to program robots.  I use the OSMO as additional support for my students in Literacy and Math. I am currently pursuing an endorsement as a Technology Specialist which is why I am enrolled in this class.  I have just completed my Master's in Teaching & Learning.  I am also pursuing National Board Certification and if everything goes as planned I will achieve that in December of 2020.
