Artifacts #1 & #2

Artifact #1

The Hiring Process

I choose this assignment as one of my artifacts because it gave me a peek inside the process for hiring a educator.  With this assignment I was to create the questions to be asked during an interview.  The questions had to be connected to technology integration such as the SAMR model or the 4 C's.  The first part of the assignment was to ask the questions and another classmate was to answer them.  Then for the second part we were to switch positions and I had to answer my classmate's questions.  The questions asked during the hiring process today is defintely different from before.  In the past teachers did not need to integrate technology in the classroom like we do today.  Administrators really need to have an understanding of technology integration. This means that just like teachers, administrators need to keep up to date with the new strategies that can be used in instruction.

Artifact #2

The Walk Through

I choose the learning walk assignment as my second artifact because it allowed me to observe two other educators with the intention to learn from the experience.  I went in looking to observe how those teachers used technology to keep students engaged.  I was also observing collaboration, creativity, and communication among students.  I was also taking notes on the strategies that were being used to help students develop critical thinking skills.  Prior to doing the walk through I created a form that would remind me of what I wanted to observe.  While I observed the teachers I was thinking about my own instruction. Thinking of how I can use some of their strategies with my students.  After talking to the teachers that I observed, I have come to the conclusion that this kind of experience is something that I would like have done on me.  I feel that when a walk through is done in a positive manner all of the participants benefit from one another.  This experience is one that I would like to share with my fellow colleagues.
