Artifacts
Artifact # 1
1. Decide
on a learning goal or unit.
2D Shapes
In this unit students will explore and
investigate 2D shapes within their learning environment through real world
application. Students will learn to
identify, name, describe, differentiate, analyze, and create 2D shapes and
their attributes specifically the circle, square, triangle, and rectangle.
2. Reflect
on how a formative assessment could help assess/support that
goal/unit.
A formative assessment will help me identify
students who are mastering concepts and those who need additional support. This data will indicate in which area I need
to provide instruction so that all students meet my learning goals.
3. Reflect
on how often you will formatively assess throughout the lesson.
I will conduct daily informal observations while
students are engaged in the learning areas throughout the classroom as well as
while they are completing the activities in small and whole group. I will also use a checklist to identify to
students who are able to identify and describe the shapes and attributes. This checklist will also help me identify
those students who are able to differentiate between the attributes. I will also assess student work samples
looking to see which students are able to demonstrate their understanding of 2D
shapes by creating them. I will
formatively assess students weekly so that I gather data on whether or not
students are understanding content. This will inform me of modifications that
need to be done within the unit.
4. Design
impactful questions that will produce information which will help gauge
mastery. Reference this module's resources for helpful guides on
desirable questions.
Some of the questions that I will be asking
students ask they interact with the different materials and activities will be:
·
How do you know that shape is a _____________?
·
What do you notice?
·
Can you tell me the difference between a __________ and a
____________?
·
Can you tell me the similarities in a _____________ and a
_____________?
·
Can you describe how to make a ____________?
·
What can you use to make a _____________?
5. Create two online formative assessments using different tools, with the notion that these assessments would eventually guide you towards a final summative piece.
| Goal | Level 1 | Level 2 | Level 3 | Level 4 | Level 5 |
| Use the iPad to take pictures | I know how to press the home button to begin looking for the camera icon. | I
know how to find and select the camera app and open it. |
I know how to check to make sure that photo is selected to begin taking pictures. | I know how to take a use some of the features such as, zoom, flash, camera switching and focus on the object that I want to take a picture of. | I know how to select the picture that I took and use the edit tools to change the filter on the picture. |

Digital Badges
Level 1 Level 2 Level 3 Level 4
Level 5
I chose this assignment as another artifact because I was introduce to the drawing component in Google. I had never used it or seen it for that matter. I do not use digital badges in my classroom but after learning how to plan, set goals for earning digital badges and creating them has opened a new door for student engagement. Using digital badges will not only motivate my students but it will allow them to see how they have grow in learning to use digital tools. It will also provide me with how well they are learning to use technology. Also learning to use Google drawing I will be able to use it in other content areas and possibly show my students how to use it.
